The Reggae/Windrush Connection

Opened on  October 26th, the Bass Culture 70/50 exhibition explores the transformation of music in the UK since the arrival of  HMT Empire Windrush in 1948.

The exhibit, a four-week exhibition which showcases the advent of British reggae, features artwork, films and live performances.  It is held in collaboration with Bass Culture Research  AHRCBlack Cultural Archives, the British Library, SOAS, Goldsmiths University, Urbanimage, Camera Press and Fully Focused.

Bass Culture Research rose from a three-year Arts and Humanities Research Council funded project seeking to explore the impact of Jamaican music in the United Kingdom.
