Caribbean Should Be The Test
Addressing the 73rd United Nations General Assembly Debate on Saturday, Grenada’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Peter David said that the Caribbean should be the barometer for the implementation of climate-related technologies in other parts of the world.
The Minister believed that Small Island Development States should serve as “test cases” which can serve as a beacon to the world.
Once it is successful in the region, then other countries can implement for their climate-smart and resilient needs.
The Minister also pointed to the region’s potential in hydroelectricity and geothermal energy. He made mention of Grenada’s new “over-arching” ministry, The Ministry of Climate Resilience, Environment, Fisheries, Forestry, Disaster management and Information, which is leading the charge in climate resilience and adaption.
