Mass of Thanksgiving for Bishop Emeritus Sydney Charles

A mass of Thanksgiving was held for the late Bishop Emeritus Sydney Charles at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in St. George’s on Thursday, 27th September.

The service was held for Catholic Students across the country to pay their last respects.

Delivering the homily at Thursday’s Mass of Thanksgiving, Father Hugh Logan described the late bishop as one who always had a story on his lips. He said that Bishop Charles saw the power and beauty of God in everything.

One of the last wishes of Bishop Emeritus Charles was to have his body lay on the floor of the nave rather than the traditional casket trolley.

Plans are in the making to make sure that this particular wish is carried out during the Mass of Christian burial on Friday, September 28th.

The New Life Organization vocational and training school remain a successful legacy of the life of the late Bishop.

May he rest on peace.
