Hurricane Florence continued its destructive path through the Carolinas with reports of 7 persons dead, in its wake.

The Hurricane Centre said that the storm is about 35 miles from Myrtle Beach. The gale force winds extend to about 150 miles from the centre.

Estimates are that a million people have lost power and forecasters are predicting record rainfall in the region of 40 inches.

This could leave to truly devastating flooding as residents are still waiting for the slow-moving system to pass, to pick up the pieces.
