Crackdown on Street Vending

Authorities in St George’s have embarked on their mission to regularize vending in the city.

Police were brought in this week, to enforce compliance as a crackdown on street and sidewalk vending came into effect.

The Ministry of Works says that accommodations will be provided in the St. George’s Market Square. Presently makeshift tents are in place for the majority of vendors that have to be relocated.

The authorities say that the problem has existed for years and now is the time to take action, as sidewalks are sometimes so congested with vendors, that pedestrians have to resort to walking in the street, to get to their destinations.

Sources inside the Keith-Mitchell led administration say that affected businesses have been asking for a solution to the problem, for a long time.
