Carenage to become Climate Smart City
The Senator, who is also the Minister of Climate Resilience, said that the Government is targeting the Carenage for a multi-million dollar upgrade. The area is one of several chosen to become one of the first Climate Smart Cities, not only for Grenada but the wider Caribbean.
The Keith-Mitchell led administration is presently in the process of acquiring over $300 million from the Green Climate Fund to finance the world-class project.
According to the Senator, one of the main reasons the Carenage was chosen was due to its “high tourism value”.
Other areas selected were the St. George’s University, the sewage treatment plant in the south of the island and the southern corridor between St. George’s and the airport at Point Salines.
