RIHANNA BREAKS BOUNDARIES at this year’s Met Gala
The most glamorous event of the year, the Met Gala, was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York yesterday evening. Many stars graced the red carpet, including reality stars Kendall and Kylie Jenner, songstress, Katy Perry and an array of models including supermodels Gigi and Bella Hadid.
Trinidadian born rapper, Nicki Minaj, also blessed us with a rare appearance in a vivid, red Oscar de la Renta gown. She represented the more sinful side of the theme, Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination stating, ‘I’m the bad guy and I wanted to make sure that the bad guy was here’.
However, the belle of the ball was host, Rihanna, who didn’t disappoint at her 7th Gala. The Bajan beauty stole the show wearing a stunning, but controversial custom-made gown by designer John Galliano. The singer made sure to stick to this year’s theme, which caused a bit of a stir on social media which is nothing new to the singer.
Many gushed over the creativity of the outfit and how well it fit the theme, but others were outraged, claiming that she was appropriating Catholicism as she donned a headpiece resembling that of the Pope’s.
Fashion is all about pushing boundaries and Rihanna surely did that!
