Dominica’s Tourism Rebounds In 2018
Dominica has recorded a strong 4th month growth in the tourism sector according to recently released reports. The numbers for stay over arrivals came to 22,178, which is a significant increase of 95% over the same period in 2017.
The increase bodes well, for the island, so says Minister of Tourism and Culture, Hon. Robert Tonge, who believes that it was the combined efforts of Team Dominica and the intricate marketing of the island which has contributed greatly to the numbers. The country he says is on the right path after the devastating Hurricane Maria ravaged most of the island back in 2017.
Dominica suffered extensive damage from 2017’s Hurricane Maria, which devastated the majority of the island, causing the tourism sector to face a dramatic decline.
