LAID-OFF MAN ARRESTED FOR GUINNESS THEFT
Neil Linton, a recently-retrenched Government worker from the Barbados Water Authority, was arrested and charged for stealing four bottles of Guinness at the value of BDS$15.86.
When Linton appeared before Magistrate Douglas Frederick, he told the court that he was stressed because of his recent layoff from the entity. He apologized to the court and the manager of the establishment for his actions.
When Magistrate Frederick asked Linton if the theft would have helped his situation, Linton replied that he only intended to steal one Guinness but then the other three came with it.
“I only went for one, but the other three came along,”
A very puzzled Magistrate then replied that he had never seen a Guinness bottle walk by itself before and set bail.
Linton wasn’t able to secure a surety for the bail and was therefore remanded into custody.
