China Funds Children’s Hospital In Jamaica
The western parish of St. James, Jamaica will soon see the construction of a new 220 bed children’s hospital.
The funding for the project came through the Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement, between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and Jamaica, signed by both countries on October 18th.
The construction of the project will begin in earnest at the end of March 2019 and will take place on the same land where the Cornwall Regional Hospital is presently located.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Kamina Johnson Smith said that the project is another example of the strong and worthwhile partnerships between both countries.
She believes the specialized centre will help in the overall health sector as it will seek to employ to best and latest medical technologies and personal to deal with specialized medical cases for children and the youth.
