A Yellow Alert has been issued to the island of Grenada as the underwater volcano, Kick’em Jenny has shown increased signs of Seismic activity.
The National Disaster Management Agency (NaDMA) issued the warning on Tuesday, Oct. 2nd. The Yellow Alert means that seafarers need to stay at least 1.5 kilometres from the area where the volcano is situated.
On October 1, a magnitude 3.3 earthquake was recorded near Grenada’s north coast near the site of the active underwater volcano, just 28 kilometres north-east of Grenada’s capital, St Georges.
NaDMA says it will continue to update the public on information received concerning the underwater activity.
